For this week's outfit, I wanted to highlight this awesome dress-like long vest. It pairs with an Indian shalwar kameez outfit, but I prefer wearing it as its own piece. The vest includes a band collar at the top, arabesque patterns, and wooden beads that stop a third of the way down. The top section is straight, and then the segments flare out in a way that creates great movement when walking. The best way to wear a fusion outfit is to keep the the pieces sleek and sophisticated rather than clash with the ethnic item. I still managed to develop variety in this outfit with different shades of color: a black scarf, light gray shirt, and charcoal trousers. Since the vest is already kind of boxy, it was best to keep the rest of the items a little more fitted. Since I began wearing hijab, one of my favorite things to do has been creating embellishments for to wear with my headscarf. The interest has boiled down, but I was recently inspired by the trend of headpieces. I found a chain from a broken necklace and an earring that matched it, so I put together a simple, three-stranded headpiece that can easily be tacked down with hijab pins to wear with my scarf. The vest leaves no room for a necklace, so I filled up on arm candy instead. I kept the theme strictly metal with a set of metal bangles and wire-wrapped rings. Another trend that I'm loving is midi rings. You can always stack different pairs of rings, but midi rings bring another level of ring power with delicate or detailed bands. Last but not least, I chose a pair of nude pumps that were simple enough to keep the outfit balanced, but also provided a different color option. They matched the light cream color of the vest's pattern and the geometric ankle strap reflected the arabesque detailing as well.
