While this year may not have been the best every day, it was pretty good to me at times. Here are some of my favorite memories from this year and the experiences that I am thankful for:
3. The week after the wedding was our school's TEDx conference (an independently organized TED event). For us TEDx interns, it was great to finally see the night we had been working for come to fruition. The entire experience was even better because I got to work with my best friends.
5. I got to participate in the SoCal MIST 2016 Competition with my fellow MSA officer, Sara Nasla. The collection that I designed for the Fashion Design category won 1st place. It was a 6-outfit compilation that drew inspiration from Asian, African, and Middle Eastern traditional clothing while observing Islamic dress codes as well. 6. One of the shows I got to costume this year was 12 Angry Jurors. I think what made it memorable was the amazing cast, all people that I would call my friends. You can see exactly the amount of character they brought to the stage in this picture where they all posed as The Last Supper. You can see better quality pictures of the show from our photographer, Gary Ayala. 8. This summer I also got to take a community college class in Adobe Illustrator. I learned how to translate my art skills into a digital medium. These two pieces featuring Momo were made for my final, where I had to take one subject and interpret it artistically in two ways. (Check out my artwork page here) 9. Our family went to New York in August to visit my sister and although I don't particularly enjoy being in New York, I did enjoy the trip and getting to spend time together. 10. Before school started again, I got to spend some time with my friends at "Senior Sunrise" and mark the beginning of our last year in high school. There's been a lot more that's happened since school started, but most of my time has been spent focusing on school itself and applying to colleges. I'm looking forward to 2017 when I'll be done with applications and have more time to focus on the rest of my life-- and that includes more blogging. See you in the new year!
