Having my birthday fall in the month of all things romantic, I've grown an affinity for the color pink and hearts at this time of year. I've never actually celebrated Valentine's Day the way most people think of it, but I do celebrate Galentine's on the 13th and I spent the 14th this year as a day of self-care. For a long time, I shied away from pink because I thought it was too girly. But now, I love wearing it in any shade. In honor of the amazing month of February, I have for you two very pink-centric outfits full of flowery creative directing. Both are college-class-tested and I stuck to only neutral colors for simplicity. The first look is a romantic take on your simple shirt+jeans combo. I wore a black lace blouse with the coolest bell-shaped sleeves that slit open in waves. (The drama is worth it, but disclaimer: they do get caught in those fold-out lecture hall desks.) I paired this look with a blush scarf and a statement necklace. The dramatic sleeves are best accentuated with simple stacked rings and bracelets. I finished the look off with some block heels. This look is really simple, but the textures, accessories, and pop of light pink are what make it look polished. The second outfit is more street-style and casual. I like how the hoojab style and shape of the dress give it a babydoll look. My favorite part of this outfit is that I could wear it with my basic white sneakers (there are very few shoe options that are functional on a college campus). I'm still really feeling the fun sleeves trend, so I wore this with my black satin-y bell-sleeve blouse. Mini beauty moment: I wanted to do a strong makeup look to go with my February outfits, too. This gold and pink eyeshadow (that really reminds me of strawberry lemonade) came off more subtle than I had hoped, but it balanced out with the bold matte lip. I strategically highlighted all over the place for an overall glow.
