Having my birthday fall in the month of all things romantic, I've grown an affinity for the color pink and hearts at this time of year. I've never actually celebrated Valentine's Day the way most people think of it, but I do celebrate Galentine's on the 13th and I spent the 14th this year as a day of self-care. For a long time, I shied away from pink because I thought it was too girly. But now, I love wearing it in any shade. In honor of the amazing month of February, I have for you two very pink-centric outfits full of flowery creative directing. Both are college-class-tested and I stuck to only neutral colors for simplicity.
To end off the year, I just wanted to do one more small post about an outfit I wore at the beginning of this year at the FIDM Debut Fashion Show, where a selected group of graduating students presented collections of designs they had made-- Chairing Styles, costumes, and couture. Aside from the ones we had at sleepovers and Nordstrom Fashion Ambassador meetings, I had never been to a fashion show before. Watching the creative presentations of artwork that the students had designed reaffirmed my desire to work in the fashion industry.
One of the most obvious things that people notice about my style is that I wear a multitude of colors in a single outfit, something that can often seem difficult to accomplish. But spring is a season deserving of color, so you can try this simple way of adding more color to your wardrobe: wear only neutral pieces, and then add one statement color item.
Khanfession #3: Forget Versace, I love versatility.
Having just one versatile piece in your wardrobe can add a year's worth of outfits to your lookbook. Items like a classic jumpsuit can be dressed down or made luxurious depending on how you accessorize them. Versatility is one of my favorite parts of fashion because not only can you switch between formal and casual, but you can also concoct a multitude of characters and styles that change the way people see you. ![]() Khanfession #1: I miss spring break. After one week of binge-watching 30 Rock and spending some quality bonding time with our rabbit, Momo, I have been forced to return to the world of orange lockers and daily testing. Since I couldn't keep the "break" part, I decided to keep the "spring" part in my first outfit of 4th quarter. The concept of florals for spring has been memorialized by Miranda Priestley's comment ("Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.") in The Devil Wears Prada. The trend might seem overrated, but there is no way you can separate me from my love for florals. Trust me, you can probably find Insha Khan wearing florals while its raining. There is no stopping our love affair. |
